چکیده

In this paper we present the use of the Continuous Wavelet Transform and the subsequent energy distribution derived from the transform of Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals to analyse atrial electrical activity. The atrium produces a low amplitude wave in the ECG, which can often be overwhelmed by noise making it difficult to analyse by eye and therefore limiting the P wave as an indicator in cardiological diagnosis. Novel Methods for Characterization of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation in Human Left Atria

INTRODUCTION More effective methods for characterizing 3D electrical activity in human left atrium (LA) are needed to identify substrates/triggers and microreentrant circuit for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). We describe a novel wavelet-based approach and wave-front centroid tracking that have been used to reconstruct regional activation frequency and electrical activation pathways from ...

Discrimination of the Heart Ventricular and Atrial Abnormalities via a Wavelet-Aided Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) Classifier

The aim of this study is to address a new feature extraction method in the area of the heart arrhythmia classification based on a metric with simple mathematical calculation called Curve-Length Method (CLM). In the presented method, curve length of the under study excerpted segment of signal is considered as an informative feature in which the effect of important geometric parameters of the ori...

Recent Advances in the Noninvasive Study of Atrial Conduction Defects Preceding Atrial Fibrillation

The P-wave represents the electrical activity in the electrocardiogram (ECG) associ‐ ated with the heart's atrial contraction. This wave has merited significant research efforts in recent years with the aim to characterize atrial depolarization from the ECG. Indeed, the alterations of the P-wave main time, frequency, and wavelet features have been widely studied to predict the onset of atrial f...

Electrocardiogram Beat Classification using Probabilistic Neural Network

The Electrocardiogram (ECG) plays significant role in assessing patients with abnormal activity in their heart. ECG recordings of the patient taken to analyze abnormality and classify type of disorder present in the heart functionality. An Electrocardiogram is a bioelectrical signal that records the heart’s electrical activity versus time. It is used to measure the rate and regularity of heartb...

A Wavelet Transform Approach to the Analysis of Atrial Fibrillation Electrograms

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a cardiac arrhythmia in which the pacemaker activity of the sinoatrial node is overwhelmed by disorganised electrical impulses, causing rapid and irregular quivering of the upper chambers of the heart instead of coordinated contraction. It is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia and a signification cause of stroke. In this study, the Continuous Wavelet Transf...
